Laura and Dustin Hanneman in Cold Spring, MN, own a charming home with beautiful views of the lake. The exterior was quite dated. The unique charm includes a mansard-style roof on the main house, as well as on the garage.
Our local Cold Spring roofing and siding team started to work quickly, tearing off the existing shingles on the roof where necessary, removing siding, and demolishing the garage portion of the mansard-style roof and wing walls.
New rafter tails and gable rafters were installed to improve the appearance of the garage roof and siding. New Owens Corning Duration shingles in Brownstone were added to certain sections of the roof, along with starter shingles to protect against high winds. An ice and water shield was also added to help protect from the elements.
New White LP Smart Trim was added around windows and doors. At the same time, the house and garage were sided in LP Smartside Rigid Stack Lap Siding in Diamond Kote Graphite. The gable of the house was sided in LP Board and Batten in the color Graphite.
As you can see in the photos, the transformation was quite amazing. While preserving the mansard-style roof on the house, the profile of the home was significantly updated by the mansard’s removal from the garage, and the whole property received a refreshing update.
