History
BD Exteriors was founded in 2001 by Brian Donnay. We focused primarily on roofing new construction homes in those days. As the building market was softening we started advertising to bring on more re-roofing projects directly from homeowners instead of relying on builders to keep us busy.
In 2007 we added our siding crew to the business, and in 2010 we purchased our first of now 2 seamless gutter machines. Our business has changed over the years and we continue to add new skills and services to better serve our customers but our commitment to providing our Central Minnesota customers with a great experience from start to finish has remained our top priority.
We’ve been installing roofing, siding, and other exteriors in Saint Cloud and surrounding areas for two decades. Every job we install has our name on it, so quality, craftsmanship, and customer service are of the utmost importance to us.
Team
What sets us apart from other exterior contractors is that we’ve taken the time to build a remodeling team that can handle any exterior remodeling task. From siding to gutters and roofing to windows, residential, commercial, and storm damage repair, we have the experience to handle it all. Doing these projects with our own in-house crew creates a seamless process from start to finish with clear communication.
Our team members all grew up and live in Central Minnesota. We’re loyal to a fault, hard-working and we have the training to ensure your home or business is in tip-top shape when we’re done.
Brian Donnay
Owner
Brian is the founder of BD Exteriors and lives in Sartell with his wife Tara, and three daughters: Kyla, Alayna, Paige, and his son Boyd. He is an avid bow hunter who also enjoys fishing, CrossFit, and spending time with his family – although not necessarily in that order.
Derrik Orth
Owner
Derrik has been with the company since 2007 and became an owner in 2019. He lives in St. Cloud with his wife Nikki and son Dieter. Derrik enjoys spending time with customers and giving their homes an exterior they can be proud of. He was born and raised in the St. Cloud area. His passions outside of work include hunting a variety of animals and being outdoors.
Nick Stangler
Estimator/Project Manager
Nick resides in Monticello with his wife Kelsey and children Landon, Paxton, Ella, and Brecken. He worked with BD Exteriors for 7 years on the roofing crew before moving up to project manager. His hobbies include watching and playing baseball, as well as being a dad.
Patrick Kuehn
Business Manager/Estimator
Patrick has proudly been a member of the BD Exteriors team since early 2016, helping manage the business and ensuring the best customer experience possible from start to finish.
He spends most of his free time in the outdoors, camping in all seasons, or exploring forest trails with his dog Fable and his Jeep.
Jake Lund
Roof Inspector/Estimator
Jake resides in Sartell with his wife Cari and son Kai. He grew up doing commercial and residential construction for his family’s business. He spent the last 12 years in the insurance industry both as an Agent and Sales Director. His hobbies include playing baseball and golf and spending time with his family and friends.
Andy Olson
Assistant Manager
Andy lives in Sartell with his wife and two daughters: Liberty and Amelia. He joined BD Exteriors in early 2022 and enjoys being behind the scenes helping everything run smoothly. Andy spends most of his free time with his family and does just about anything that gets him outdoors.
Mat Salzbrun
Project Manager
Mat lives in Rockville with his lovely wife Lindsay and two beautiful daughters Hailey and Tenley. He’s an avid outdoorsman and loves to share those adventures with his family and friends. Mat has been in the construction industry for more than 20 years and at BD Exteriors since 2022.

After you request an estimate, we’ll get back to you promptly. We review your project closely, listen to your wants and needs, and then give you an honest estimate. Our estimators are experienced tradesmen themselves and work on job sites daily so there are no surprises. We’re partners with you on your roofing, siding, or other exterior projects.
Full Visualization
We have an amazing 3D home visualization tool that allows you to mix and match different products, like roofing, siding, gutters, windows, and doors, and display them on a model of your very own home. You can change colors, styles, and more, viewing your home in 3D! You’ll be able to see what your home’s exterior design looks like when BD Exteriors is done with it before we’ve even begun.
Customer-Focused
Most exterior remodeling projects take 1-2 days but can vary. We’ll let you know how long we think your project will take – from set-up to clean-up. We’ll leave your property spotless, and get your project done on time.
Easy Payments & Financing
Our payment process is easy and made for your convenience:
- For cash/check projects, we require half of your payment down, and the remaining balance after the project has been completed.

We deal with storm damage repair to roofs, siding, and exteriors all the time. We know how to talk to insurance companies, and our process makes things as painless as possible.
What are the steps when dealing with hail and wind damage around the Saint Cloud area?
- First, request an estimate from our team and include any insurance paperwork you have.
- Second, a member of the BD Exteriors team will contact you and assess in person the damage to your roofing, siding, or other exteriors. We’ll give you a write-up of our recommended repairs and what they will cost.
- Third, your insurance adjuster will look at the damage as well. We’ll work with your adjuster to come to an agreement on the damage and cost of the work to be done.
- The final step in our process is creating an agreement with your insurance adjuster. Once that agreement has been made, we’ll draft a simple contract for the work, pick out colors, and get your home or business looking like new again.

Licenses
We make sure to maintain our certification with the EPA for lead-safe renovations, and our license with the DLI for our residential building contractor, and we ensure every employee has completed their 10-hour safety class certification through OSHA before working on your property. We’re licensed, bonded, and insured to protect you.

As a residential and commercial exterior remodeler in Central Minnesota, one of our most important affiliations is with the CMBA. We’ve been a member since 2001.
We maintain our membership in the CMBA because it helps us stay current in the construction industry, and provides us with additional training and networking around roofing, siding, and other exterior trades. We’re able to participate in the CMBA Home Show in Saint Cloud and other events and volunteer opportunities. We also receive additional valuable memberships in our state (BAM) and national (NAHB) construction associations.
