Here are a few methods to help you choose the right siding contractor! If you’re still looking for that perfect relationship, contact BD Exteriors for a friendly quote!
1. Great Communication
Your home belongs to you; your siding contractor should make sure you’re completely satisfied with the work they’ve laid out or are actively doing. You should receive the details of the work in writing, including cost estimates and other pertinent information.
A great siding company will communicate with you as much as you need in a timely manner.
2. Trust
Trust should be another thing you automatically expect from a contractor – but, as President Ronald Reagan said, “Trust, but verify.”
To find out whether you can really trust a siding company, they should be local and have good reviews online. A national company may have a local presence, but the chain of command extends far above their heads – the owner of a local company may live in your city.
We’ve heard many stories of people being burned by storm chasers who come and knock on their door, informing them of damage to their home which needs to be repaired quickly. They may attempt to get you to sign a letter of intent; you don’t have to sign anything you don’t want to, and in fact should contact your insurance company before speaking with any siding contractor if you have storm damage. Storm chasers are not to be trusted.
3. Proper Licensing
To check on licensing, head to the state of Minnesota website and search for that business’ name or license number. For instance, BD Exteriors’ license number is BC326161 (also located at the bottom of every page on our website).
Also see if they’re rated by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The BBB won’t allow a contractor on their website without being insured and bonded.
