3 Questions To Ask Before Hiring A Siding Contractor Near St. Cloud, MN

Hiring a siding contractor can feel like a game of chance. How can you know whether one will be better than another? You can use the following questions to try to determine if the siding contractors you're talking to are really worth your time.

If you're still looking for that perfect relationship after asking these questions, give BD Exteriors a call.

1. How Do I Know I Can Trust You?

You may be able to get a straight answer from the siding contractor you're trying to hire, or you may not. To find out whether you can really trust a siding company, they should be local and have good reviews online. A national company may have a local presence, but the chain of command extends far above their heads. Meanwhile, the owner of a local company may live in your city.

We've heard stories of people all over Central Minnesota being burned by storm chasers who come and knock on their door, informing them of damage to their home which needs to be repaired quickly. These storm chasers may try to get you to sign a letter of intent; you don't have to sign anything you don't want to, and in fact, should contact your insurance company before speaking with any siding contractor if you have storm damage. Storm chasers are not to be trusted.

2. Are You Fully Licensed & Insured?

Hopefully, any company you speak with will have their license and insurance information right on their website, or easily available when you meet with them. But, if they don't, you can head to the state of Minnesota website and search for that business's name. For instance, BD Exteriors' license number is BC326161 (also located at the bottom of every page on our website).

Also, see if they're rated by the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The BBB won't allow a contractor on their website without being insured and bonded.

3. How Will The Communication Process Work?

Your home belongs to you; your siding contractor should make sure you're completely satisfied with the work they've laid out or are actively doing. You should receive the details of the work in writing, including cost estimates and other pertinent information.

A great siding company will communicate with you as much as you need in a timely manner.
